EV Charger Installation FAQs

Most Cork homeowners pay between €500 and €1,300 after the SEAI €300 grant. A standard install — 7kW smart charger, single-phase supply, straightforward cable run — works out around €1,000 before the grant, so €700 in your pocket. If your fuse board needs upgrading first (common in older homes built before 2000), that's an extra €300–€600. We give you a fixed price after a free site survey, so there are no surprises on the day.
You're eligible if you own or lease an electric vehicle on the SEAI approved list, the property is your primary residence in Ireland, you have off-street parking, and the address hasn't claimed the grant before. We handle the full application for you — we submit the paperwork using the Safe Electric certificate we issue on completion, and the €300 is paid directly to you by the SEAI. No forms to fill, no portals to chase.
Most installs are done in half a day to a full day, depending on the cable run and whether any earthing or fuse board work is needed. We arrive, fit the charger, run the cable, test everything, and leave the place clean. You'll be charging your car the same day.
Almost certainly not. The vast majority of Irish homes are single-phase, which supports a 7kW charger — enough to fully charge a typical EV overnight. Three-phase conversion is expensive (€1,500–€3,000+) and rarely needed for home charging. We'll confirm your supply during the free site survey before quoting.
We install all major EV charger brands including Zappi and Garo — and we're happy to install any brand you prefer or that suits your needs and budget. We'll advise you on the best option for your home and ESB Networks requirements during the free site survey.
Yes, in many cases — but it depends on your building. The SEAI grant has been extended to certain apartment and multi-unit developments where shared charging infrastructure is in place. We'll need to assess your specific setup, including landlord or management company approval if you don't own the parking space outright. Get in touch and we'll talk through what's possible.
Yes — every install comes with a full Safe Electric certificate issued on completion. This isn't optional, it's a legal requirement, and it's also what the SEAI needs to process your €300 grant. We're a registered Safe Electric installer and every job is signed off by a certified electrician.
A 7kW charger fully charges a typical EV in 6–8 hours — perfect for overnight charging on a single-phase home supply. A 22kW charger is three times faster but needs a three-phase supply, which most Irish homes don't have. For 99% of Cork homeowners, 7kW is the right choice. If you're running a fleet or a business with three-phase already in place, we can spec the 22kW option for you instead.
